We ended up here since there was an hour wait at Cheesecake Factory. We walked in on a Friday night after 8pm and only waited 10min for a table. Not bad considering its a small restaurant. But overall we were pleased. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and large portions. We will be back again.

I have gone to this establishment several times and it's just ok. The service is a bit slow, and the last time we were there, they messed up our order. The taste of the food is good, and never cold, which is a good thing. I like the location in the Pembroke Gardens and the fact that it is very clean. I will probably go again.

Dear Sal, We had a good thing going. Or so I thought. You see, for the last year (maybe more) I called you whenever I needed a quick and easy meal and you delivered that meal in exchange for money. But you unexpectedly ended our year long relationship in a very abrupt and disappointing manner. After a long day and a never-ending headache I decided I just couldn't cook, so I called you tonight like I always do. I studied the menu prior and picked just the right toppings for myself and two very hungry boys. I gave my order, paid and ran back to bed to rest. Shortly after the phone rang and it was you. You said you couldn't handle the distance between us. I mentioned that you have delivered to my home several times before, but you apologized and in the end you decided to void my payment and permanently end our relationship. I wouldn't have minded this if it had been done before I placed the order OR if you could have at least realized it was your mistake and delivered one last time, but instead you left me high and dry and with an even bigger headache than before. It was a good run while it lasted. Sincerely, An ex-customer

I feel somewhat bad for giving Sals such low starage because it's not that they have done anything wrong per se, it's just that they aren't getting anything right on either. I have been to this Sals as well as a few other locations and "meh" definitely sums it up. I do have to say though, their chicken parmesan is actually very good. They put ricotta cheese on it which is not typical, but it really adds something and makes it very good. Other than their chicken parm though, the food is lackluster. Even the garlic roles are pretty pathetic. They offer a lunch special that is 7 dollars for a salad, slice of pizza and a half of sub (eggplant parm, chicken parm, italia, and a few others). It's a good deal, I mean 7 bucks is a bargain, but its just not really that good. They have this same deal and practically the same food at other similar chain Italian restaurants and I've had it a handful of times because its there, but I can't say that I have ever really enjoyed it. What prompted my review was a recent dining experience when I came in here for lunch last friday where I opted to forgo the mediocre lunch deal for baked ziti. Bad move. Go to any comparable Italian restaurant and typically you get a soup or a salad along with your lunch plus a nice basket of flaky garlic rolls. Not at Sals. No soup or salad and then they set down 4 garlic rolls at my table of 3 people. It really bugs me when they do that. I probably would have forgiven them for this had my baked ziti been good, but it wasn't, it was probably the poorest excuse for baked ziti I have ever had. It's a really easy dish and quite hard to mess up, but what is supposed to be cheesy yummy goodness tasted more like pasta and sauce. The cheese was severely lacking and the portion itself was skimpy. My sister ordered the chicken parm and the side of spaghetti was nearly dry. My mom's pizza was super greasy and after finishing our lunch, I said that I had to insist that we not go back. If you ask me, I'd say skip it.

The service was so good that I kinda feel bad about not being enamored with the food. I had the baked sampler, and it was just... Meh. It was lasagna, a stuffed shell, a piece of ravioli and a meatball. Nothing about it was special. It was just an average portion of average food. Furthermore for my meal (which came with a nice house salad) and water, with tax and tip the total was $19. I did not feel that value was reflected on my plate. I did see some delicious looking pizza in other tables :-) Like I said, the service was GREAT!!!

I ordered the Sal's Baked combo (Lasagna, Ravioli, Stuffed Shell, Meatballs) and the Appetizer combo (Fingers, hot wings (with ranch), Mozzarella sticks, Fries). First of all I will say this, the delivery was fast and the person on the phone and at the door were nice. On to the food. Half of my family is Italian, I am used to very good Italian food, I accept that not all places are up to par with that, but did they even try? The pasta parts were undercooked (or most likely recooked wrong) and rubbery. The meats were nearly flavorless (FYI the MEAT should be able to be tasted, not the spices and fillings). The Cheese was also....tasteless. The ravioli was under filled. The Lasagna, lasagna is supposed to be a nice medley of flavors as you chew it, this was bland from start to finish. APPETIZERS! Fingers - over breaded and dry, Sticks - also flavorless, Fried - *shrug* they were just fries. Wings were decent though, but the ranch left a nasty aftertaste. I actually feel a bit bad posting a bad review for once.

Sal's of Pembroke Garden's is clean, in a good location and dependable. And, in fact, the food tastes good. Has it become a "must" on my list of local destinations? Not yet. But, it's getting close. The pasta dishes are standard and well done, if not a little overdone. The service, while not exceptional, is dependable and cordial. On more than one occasion, though, I've seen management chastise servers within earshot of me and my fellow diners. That doesn't make the pizza taste any better or worse, but it certainly is something I remember. Sal's has fantastic lunch specials and a great carryout special on Tuesdays on large pizzas. Sometimes, all I expect from an Italian, pizza-anchored shop, is attention to detail and a good product. Sal's does it, and they will see lots more of me.

We have been customers of Sal's for years! We love their Pizza, subs and Italian entrees. We tried their carrot soup and it was delicious! The prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. Try Sal's you'll like it! The servers and manager Luis are the best! LOVE THIS PLACE!

Stopped in here while my car was being worked on next door. Very friendly place, and had a DELICIOUS spinach ravioli with artichokes & mushrooms. Got a coupon for $5 off next time. Suddenly, taking the car to the shop isn't nearly as bad as it used to be!

Was a bit hesitant to try at 1st but now I visit regularly with my wife instead of Jason's Deli (used go to there every weekend). Excellent value. They offer many specials and also have a 20% off VIP card that I constantly use & they still accept. Love the Caribbean Chicken Salad. Pizzas are also very good. Service is not great but not horrible. CORRECTION: Service can be horrible. Had a very bad experience on Saturday 3/27 with a server. Totally neglected table service and had to walk up to the counter to ask for a refill.

We paid Uncle Sal a little visit! Yes!!!!! It was wonderful. I was able to enjoy a glass of wine prior to my latest appearance at this very quaint, clean and absolutely cozy place. The house Chianti was tolerable, fruity, and smooth and balanced at $10.99 a carafe. The dish selection was a pairing of a small house pizza with tomatoes and pineapples and the Lobster Ravioli Covered in JUMBO Shrimp Special. At $23.99 the tender ravioli in an orange sauce; which I would like to say it was vodka (but I don't want to be quoted on that) was mid priced. Maybe the shrimp was of the frozen kind, because it did not taste freshly caught. All in all, I give it my approval. Oh, and the garlic rolls are delicious.

we had tried the pizza here before but as delivery not inside actual establishment. to our surprise, they have a very nice inexpensive lunch menu and specials. you can grab 2 slices of cheese pizza and a soda for $5.00 (not bad considering their location at the Shops of Pembroke Gardens). but the one which really caught our eye was the soup or salad, 1 slice of cheese pizza and 1/2 sandwich (from the list indicated) for $5.99! we went with the soup - my hubby was a pasta e fagioli which consisted of white beans, small pasta, veggies and bacon! it was a nice size (maybe a tiny bit smaller than a cup - but hearty) flavor was delicious. i had the lentil (which was the soup of the day) this too was same portion size, filled with veggies - it was good. we each had a cheese pizza which for it being 1 slice it was a nice size slice! we also had the same 1/2 sandwich - Italian Classico (its on the menu as a cold one but you can have them warm it up) it was a nicely toasted small hoggie type bun - crispy on the outside and soft inside. filled with just enough capicola, Genoa salami, ham, melted provolone, lettuce, tomatoes , onions and a nice flavorful house vinaigrette. it was a very satisfying $5.99 lunch!!! we feel it was a generous amount for the cost! and the quality of the food was really good. compared to a fast food joint where a burger and fries is actually costing the same or more and it is not freshly made!! it is a good deal. (soda is additional)

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
